Visual stimulus and ornaments
I never thought of this before but I think the fact that Ihab (a friend) uses plant, decoration and similar stuff in his room is directly related to the fact that he shuts down the curtains not that he is a softy or something.
Shutting down the curtains is totally a cultural thing in his case (and ofcouse ours, too); protection from outside and isolation in the closet of God, bla bla bla... To compensate the loss of view, people simply use decorations...
He likes the light in the window frame, because it stimulates him a peripheral vision, it gives more information of his surroundings. Though, he wants to use a bobble light decoration, because he is not used to look outside the window and wants to entertain his eyes with the color and light variation which the bobble light creates.
Tell him that he should open up his curtains instead and stick to the normal lamp (preferably dimmable) at his window.
He was asking me before about this, so that is why I'm sending this email.
